The Fourth Session of the Working Group on Trade, Industry and Investment of the Russian – Indonesian Joint Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation was held virtually on October 14. 

The Russian Delegation was headed by Ms. Natalia Stapran, Director for Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects, Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, and the Indonesian Delegation was headed by the Assistant Deputy for Economic Cooperation of Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Fajar Wirawan Harijo.

Both Sides discussed the state of bilateral economic relations and outlined their respective country’s health and economic policy response and measures to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak.

The session of the Working Group from the Russian Side was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of the Development of the Russian Far East, Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosselkhoznadzor, the Russian Direct Investment Fund, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Government of St. Petersburg, the Russian Embassy in Indonesia, as well as the Trade Representation of Russia in Indonesia. 

The Indonesian side was represented by the officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Finance, the BPS — Statistics Indonesia Agency, the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), and the Embassy of Indonesia in Moscow.

The participants discussed opportunities for expansion and diversification of bilateral trade and economic cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation; stressed an importance of elimination of trade barriers, and necessity of further development of the  relations between financial institutions and correspondent banks.
